The first ONK winners have been announced!
The first race of the KNMV Open Dutch Youth Championship was held today at Circuit Park De Kuilen. Torre van Mechgelen (50cc), Maxime Lucas (65ccKW), Lotte van Drunen (65GW) and Janis Martins Reisulis (85ccKW) managed to conquer the largest cups at MSC Mill-Aldendriel.
50cc:
Torre van Mechgelen is the fastest in time training, but the Belgian does not start the first heat well. Van Mechgelen comes out of the first corner narrowly in the top ten and then works his way up to third place. The first round is won by Elvis Totney, he comes out of the first round as leader and does not relinquish this position. The Youth Pro MX rider wins with more than 40 seconds ahead of Kenzo Jaspers. The same Jaspers leads the second heat until the last. Due to a crash, Van Mechgelen manages to connect and he strikes in the last lap. Van Mechgelen wins the second round and with it the daily classification ahead of Totney (1-3) and Jasper (2-2).
65cc KW:
In the first heat Maxime Lucas had to work very hard for his victory. The start wasn't very good, but he managed to work his way forward very well. Later in the afternoon, the Belgian won by no less than 20 seconds ahead of Jayson van Drunen. The Eindhoven native (3-2) of the Grizzly Yamaha Junior Team INDG comes second in the daily rankings ahead of Dex van den Broek (2-6) in the colors of Paez Racing.
65cc GW:
No one was a match for Lotte van Drunen, the 11-year-old lady managed to win both heats. The Team Beursfoon driver managed to win both times by a wide margin. In the daily rankings, Motocross AAD rider Mick Kennedy (2-4) came second ahead of Limburger Gyan Doensen (4-3).
85cc KW:
The Latvian Janis Martins Reisulis managed to win both heats in this class. With this he managed to stay ahead of the Belgians Douwe van Mechgelen (3-2) and Uwe de Waele (2-3). British Kawasaki rider Harrison Greenough finished fourth ahead of Brent van de Walle, who is therefore classified as the best Dutchman.
The KNMV ONK 50cc will continue on April 7 in Veendam, the 65cc riders will be active again on April 27 at the Marum circuit.
