Courtney Duncan to Bike It DRT Kawasaki!
Kawasaki hits home! With the super-fast New Zealander Courtney Duncan who will participate in the Women's World Cup for Bike It DRT Kawasaki, the greens are assured of a title candidate in their ranks.
The WMX series will start in Valkenswaard later this month. With two world titles and a further three medals in the women's world championship, Kawasaki has often claimed a leading role in this exciting championship. The fast twenty-three year old New Zealander has definitely been a leading lady in WMX since her debut three years ago. So far she has scored seven GP victories and fourteen heats, from just fifteen starts! Twice she narrowly missed out on the world title due to injuries. In 2017, she lost the title by just two points.
More determined than ever before, Courtney is determined to achieve her goal. With Steve Dixon's very experienced British Kawasaki team, she will be the teammate of the American Darian Sanayei and the Brazilian Gustavo Pessoa. In addition to the GPs, Courtney will also ride in her native country with the support of Kawasaki. Also Kawasaki Motors Europe manager Steve Guttridge is really looking forward to the performance of the fierce little topper on Kawasaki's KX250!
Courtney Duncan: “I am very happy that I signed for Bike It DRT Kawasaki. They have given me a great opportunity and I am very motivated to reach the top in 2019. A fresh start is what I needed and I couldn't be more excited than to do that with Kawa. Kawasaki, New Zealand has also come on board to support me in my home races, for which I am also very grateful. “
Steve Dixon, DRT team owner: “It's been ten years since our team competed in the Women's World Championship with Tarah Gieger, when she helped qualify Puerto Rico for the Motocross of Nations. In the meantime, however, we have continued to follow the series. It was actually a friend who told me that Courtney was looking for support for the Women's World Cup. We had to think about it for a while but Kawasaki was enthusiastic, especially since their previous champion Livia Lancelot has retired! I have full confidence that Courtney Kawasaki can win the world title.”
