Mike van Grinsven opens with the victory
Mike van Grinsven (photo) has won the first competition of the ONK Dutch Masters quads. The motocross rider from Heesch stayed ahead of Joe Maessen on the Herselse bos circuit. Third place went to the strong driving Ruben van Lith. He finished ahead of Rick Haverdil and Ricardo Phoelich.
First heat
It was Van Grinsven who was the fastest at the start. He was followed by Maessen, Haverdil, Jan Hoogendoorn and Job Smits. Smits passed Hoogendoorn in the first lap and was therefore able to report fourth on the first pass. Van Grinsven and Maessen quickly took a small lead over Haverdil, who in turn quickly seemed to be driving into no man's land. Halfway through the heat, Hoogendoorn had fallen back to eighth place and it was Lith and Ricardo Phoelich who had passed Smits. Van Grinsven and Maessen were now among the stragglers. This went a little smoother for van Grinsven and Maessen had to let him go slowly but surely. Van Grinsven won the heat by a wide margin over Maessen, who in turn crossed the finish line unthreatened in second place. Van Lith managed to catch up with Haverdil and passed him three laps before the finish to finish third. Fourth place went to Haverdil, who stayed ahead of Phoelich.
Due to the weather conditions, the result of the first heat was also the day's result.
