Positive start to the season for Sven van der Mierden in Ottobiano!
Sven van der Mierden (Hutten Metaal Racing) started his season strongly today. In the Italian Championship in Ottobiano, van der Mierden finished eighth in the MX1 round in a very strong field.
Sven took part in this match to get into the right rhythm. Due to the winter conditions, the circuit was wet and muddy, but van der Mierden felt well at home in the training and managed to set an eighth fastest time.
In the strong field of participants, a good start was of great importance. When the starting gate folded down, he took off well and came out of the first corner in third place. He had a good rhythm on the treacherous circuit and stayed in the top six for a long time. In the heat of the battle, he lost two more places in the final phase and crossed the finish line in eighth place.
At the end of the day there was a super final on the program in which the best riders of the MX1 and MX2 classes competed against each other. Because Sven arrived too late at the parc ferme, he was disqualified, meaning he did not participate. At the start, Sven did not get away well, so he had to start the race at the back. Due to the hustle and bustle of the first lap, he immediately had his glasses full, so he went into the pits to put on another pair of glasses. A lot of time was lost again, but when Sven started riding again, he managed to pass many riders and came 22nd.th across the finish line.
