Monticelli surprises in Hawkstone Park Superfinal!
Despite the absence of Glenn Coldenhoff, it was a masterful season debut for Standing Construct KTM. Ivo Monticelli confirmed everything he had shown earlier in the day and raced to a convincing victory in the closing Super Final!
The holeshot was a perfect fit for Max Nagl, who seems to be rediscovering his lightning starts of the past on the Sarholz-KTM! Drama early in the race with Tom Vialle's crash in the opening lap. Fortunately without too much trouble. Ivo Monticelli wasted no time and quickly took the measure of leader Nagl. Anyone who thought that the Standing Construct-KTM rider would only be an interim leader was disappointed. The young Italian - 'grande Ivo to the fans - booked a controversial victory. He crossed the finish line with an almost 11 second lead!
After Max Anstie's MX1 victory, Monticelli provides the icing on the cake for Tim Mathys' team. No incidents this time for Arminas Jasikonis who finished an excellent third after Nagl. Thomas-Kjer Olsen is fourth and the best MX2 rider ahead of Anstie and Jago Geerts. Jago is second of the MX2 riders, while Ice One's quarter-liter promise Mikkel Haarup finished a brilliant ninth.
