Jacky Martens & friends support 'To walk again'
Last year Jacky Martens celebrated an anniversary - after all, it was 25 years ago that he became 500cc motocross world champion - with a fun party. Those present could support 'To walk again' here. That small action yielded a surprising result because yesterday Jacky presented a check for no less than 2.674 euros!
“I didn't want a gift for that party. We thought it would be more appropriate to ask people to donate to a good cause. In fact, we almost naturally arrived at 'To Walk again' because we are very closely involved with it through Joël Roelants. Joël was the trainer of Thomas Covington last year, while Rasmus Jörgensen trained Thomas Kjer-Olsen,” Martens explains.
Normally Dr. Toon Claes, figurehead of 'To walk again', was present himself but was unable to attend due to a medical conference. “We raised no less than 2.674,85 euros. A nice amount, which I never expected.” Ivo from 'To walk again' received the check yesterday evening at the annual team presentation of the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team in De Engel restaurant in Zandhoven.
