Hawkstone Park: Max Anstie wins in MX1!
After a high-profile day of competition in Hawkstone Park, Max Anstie could call himself the MX1 rider. The popular Brit rode to victory in both motos in his Standing Construct KTM debut. Anstie was joined on the podium by Max Nagl and teammate Ivo Monticelli.
RFX-KTM rider Shaun Simpson also made a mark in his first race on an SX-F450 since 2016. However, in the first moto he had to admit his superior in Anstie and another strong Max Nagl. Tommy Searle retired after a collision with Arminas Jasikonis.
In the second moto Simpson was again on top. Now, however, he had to make way for Monticelli. The audience was treated to a duel between Standing Construct duo Monticelli and Anstie. Ultimately, Max finishes the job in a routine manner, but Monticelli made a clear statement for those who underestimated the Italian!
Simpson lost third place when he dislocated his shoulder on an unfortunate jump. Fortunately, the shoulder was quickly replaced, but 'Braveheart' had to miss the super final. Nagl would now be fourth ahead of Jasikonis. In a strong field of participants, Lars Van Berkel also caught the spotlight today. The SKS-Husqvarna leader finished ninth. A regular Petar Petrov (7-7) placed fifth in the final standings.
