Dixon Racing chooses WP Suspension!
Bike It Dixon Kawasaki Racing team will compete in 2019 with official support from WP Suspension. The Kawasaki KX 250 of the Kawasaki Europe-supported MX2 team will be equipped with WP 48mm cone valve forks and Trax Shock from the Pro Component program.
As is known, the American Darian Sanayei will be the spearhead of the team this year. Sanayei has several EMX250 victories and was on the podium in early 2018, in his second MX2 season. However, a little later he was sidelined for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
Since the takeover by KTM, WP Suspension has focused on equipping Austrian motorcycles, including Husqvarna. However, the leading suspension brand achieved success in almost all possible disciplines from motocross and supercross, over enduro and rally raid to Superbike and all the different classes in the MotoGP championship. This broad experience in motorsports is reflected in WP's state-of-the-art products as well as the brand's aftermarket and OEM products.
Sanayei will start the MX3 World Championship in Argentina on Sunday, March 2, together with Brazilian Gustavo Pessoa.
Gareth Edmunds, Brand Manager, WP Suspension UK
“I am pleased to announce that the Bike It Dixon Kawasaki Racing Team will be using the WP Pro Component range for the 2019 MXGP season. Motocross riders know that WP Suspension provides suspensions for KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles, but many people don't know WP suspensions are also available for other major off-road makes and models. We wanted to showcase the performance of our products on a Japanese model, and Steve's team is one of the best options for us to do this. They use the 48mm Cone Valve Forks and Trax shock. Steve has a very professional team, he always strives for innovation and performance. That's why Bike It Dixon Kawasaki Racing fits well with our brand values. Steve has built one of the most successful private teams in the MXGP paddock over the past 20 years. With Darian having another year with Dixon Kawasaki Racing, I think there is a lot of potential for both the team and WP Suspension.”
Steve Dixon Team Owner, Bike It Dixon Racing
“There are many positives for DRT to collaborate with WP Suspension this year. The fact that WP Suspension is the largest supplier of factory equipment in MXGP is one of them. There are more WP Suspension engineers on site than any other brand. This means that a lot of information goes back to the WP factory. Although the rider information is not shared as such, the technicians can adjust the settings to assist the rider. We are a technical team that likes to push the boundaries, that's why we enjoy these types of collaborations. When we were approached by Gareth (Edmunds) it was already a positive approach for us because we knew Gareth had worked for Kawasaki. He knows the GP circus and knows what is needed. This gave me confidence because I can work with someone who will push our interests in the WP group. It can only be a positive move that will help WP Suspension to further expand in the Japanese motorcycle market.”
