Mike Vanderstraeten's comeback!
The first game of the season is always special. That will certainly be the case this weekend for Mike Vanderstraeten (Fun MX Team). The ex-MX Rookie winner will make his return appearance in Lommel during the BMB/VLM opener. And who won the BMB Opening Cross in Lommel again in 2015? Correct!
In the meantime, it has been since 2016 that Vanderstraeten completed a full season. However, the rider from Balen is going for it again with the Fun MX team with which he won the Inters A title at VLM in 2013 and 2014.
Meanwhile, Mike is 27, so he has plenty of experience and he can always do more in the sand! Especially in Lommel. In 2014 (photo above) he even won the EMX300 round ahead of Gregory Lewis, Samuele Bernardini and Kenny Vandueren.
Vanderstraeten has not competed in more than a handful of occasional races in recent years. So it remains to be seen how long it will take until the WMX Shop Yamaha pilot is back up to cruising speed. In any case, VLM has another seasoning this season!
