Sunderland approaches Brabec after stage victory
Sam Sunderland won his first stage victory of this Dakar Rally in Arequipe. The victory initially went to Xavier De Soultrait, but later the match control gave 10 minutes back to Sunderland. The Briton had lost this when he helped the fallen Paolo Goncalves after a crash. Sunderland wins ahead of the Frenchman De Soultrait and the Austrian Matthias Walkner. After the retirement of Wesley Pittens, Paul Spierings Jr is the best Dutchman. Today Spierings finished 38th and in the standings he occupied 42nd place. Ricky Brabec goes into the rest day as the leader, Sunderland follows just 59 seconds behind.
