Official: Bas Vaessen at Hitachi KTM fueled by Milwaukee
Actually, Bas Vaessen's video came a little too early this week. However, the press release has now also been sent out to the world for confirmation. Bas Vaessen joins Conrad Mewse in the Hitachi KTM fueled by Milwaukee team.
Both Vaessen and Mewse combine the MX2 World Championship with the Maxxis British MX2. The Irishman Graeme Irwin, British champion in 2017, will start again in the MXGP and the Maxxis MX1 motocross championship. Last season Irwin suffered from many injuries.
Team boss Roger Magee: “We were very happy to re-sign Conrad in Imola. He then won his first British title. We have been following Bas for a few years and felt it was the right time to bring him into the KTM family. Bas has already adapted well to the KTM and will travel to RedSand next week together with Conrad for pre-season testing with WP Suspension.”
Both riders will use the powerful KTM 250 SX-F with semi-factory engines. “Conrad and Bas have enormous potential. We look forward to seeing them take each other to the next level.” Magee said. “We know Graeme has the speed to win. We just have to avoid the bad luck that befell him in 2018. But we are confident that Graeme will be much stronger this year in the British Championship and in the MXGPs.” The KTM UK team now has two title sponsors, Hitachi Excavators and Milwaukee Power Tools, hence the new name. On February 17, Vaessen, Mewse and Irwin will start their season at Hawkstone Park.
