Motocross Rules and Track Standards 2019
The Motocross Regulations and Circuit Standards for 2019 have been approved by the KNMV board. This officially establishes how the MX competition will be organized by the KNMV next season. The full regulations are here here, but here are the biggest changes at a glance. The most important parts are printed in bold.
Motocross Rules
– Addition Cup 125cc class (from 13 years, up to 125cc cylinder power, driving times the same as other Cup classes, front number plate black background with white numbers).
– NK Junior Sidecar will be cancelled, the NK Youngster Sidecar is for 11 to 14 years old and the engine capacity is up to 450cc. The NK Quad Youngster is for 10 to 14 year olds.
– Reintroduction of a stopped yellow flag (dangerous situation imminent, drive carefully) in addition to the existing waved yellow flag (serious danger, slow driving, overtaking and jumping not allowed).
– A disqualification does not count as a cancellation result.
– Driving up for the training takes place on a first-come, first-served basis. The division of the groups for the training, if applicable, is determined in advance; during the first race according to row number and thereafter on the basis of (and can be consulted via) the standings.
– Participation in DMoMX: first competition open qualification for participation in the timed training for which permanent World Championship MXGP/MX2 riders are exempt. For the second and third competitions, the best ten riders from the current DMoMX standings and the best forty riders from the ONK standings (85cc GW, 125cc, 250cc & 500cc) are invited to participate in the timed training. The best forty riders from the DMoMX standings are invited to participate in the final competitions, numbers 41 and 42 are first and second reserves. If there are cancellations for the final, the KNMV can invite replacement riders.
– Participation in the ONK Sidecar & Quad Masters final competition during the Zwarte Cross is for the twenty best teams/drivers from the current ONK standings. Numbers 21 and 22 are first and second reserves. In the event of cancellations, the KNMV can select replacements.
– Electrically powered machines will also be accepted for all 500cc classes, i.e. the DMoMX, the ONK and the Cup next season.
– Introduction of specifications for the nerf bar on Quads.
– Penalties for common violations (use of tear-off, steps in front of the starting gate, indicating outside the pit lane, back or row number not in accordance with regulations) adjusted to three places back in the results.
Motocross Circuit Standards
– Public barrier of at least ninety centimeters in height.
– Barriers may not contain sharp/protruding parts on the rider's side.
– Starting gate of forty gates wide for DMoMX competitions due to placement of starting grid.
– Track marshals at all KNMV competitions must be at least 16 years old. A minimum age of 18 remains in force for the European Championships and World Cup.
