Honda MX2 news: Reactions Mitch Evans, Zach Pichon & Brent Van Doninck
As we wrote a few days ago, Honda 114 Motorsports is launching 2019 with Mitch Evans and Zach Pichon! Assomotor Redmoto Honda enters the MX2 World Championship with Mathys Boisrame and Brent Van Doninck. Honda announced the full MX2 lineup this morning.
Two teams, each with two riders, must put the Honda CRF250R on the map in the MX2 World Championship. Assomotor Redmoto Honda's leader is 2018 EMX250 champion Mathys Boisrame. The Frenchman rode to five wins in 11 games last season. For teammate Brent van Doninck, it will be his debut on the CRF250R.
Honda will supply two CRF250Rs for Team Honda 114 Motorsports, which will field a new rider pair for 2019 in the form of Australian Mitch Evans and Frenchman Zach Pichon.
Gordon Crockard, Honda Motor Europe Off-Road Manager
“Honda has a very strong MX2 line-up for 2019. We are happy to build on the success of the CRF250R in 2018, with Mathys taking the EMX250 title. By continuing to work with Honda 114 Motorsports and Assomotor Redmoto Honda, we can continue to build on the good foundation of last season. The new line-up is promising and makes us optimistic.”
Mathys Boisrame, Assomotor Redmoto Honda
“It was my dream to ride MX2 GPs! After winning the EMX250 title in 2018, I am really looking forward to this new challenge. I have a very good feeling about the team and the CRF250R, that's why I'm very happy to stay with Honda next season. I think we have a very good chance of being competitive from the start of the season.”
Brent van Doninck, Team Assomotor Redmoto Honda
“I'm really looking forward to riding for Honda and Assomotor Redmoto in 2019. I felt really good on the CRF250R as soon as I tested it. The engine just feels very comfortable and the engine is powerful. I already ride a lot on Honda, and I can't wait for the races.”
Mitchell Evans, Team Honda 114 Motorsports
“I am grateful for the opportunity that Honda 114 Motorsports has given me. Racing in the FIM Motocross World Championship has been one of my goals since competing in the Junior World Championship in 2010. I have a lot to learn but I look forward to the challenges ahead. It's exciting to compete against the best riders in the world.”
Zachary Pichon, Team Honda 114 Motorsports
“I am very excited to be joining Team 114 Motorsports and starting my first full GP season with them. In the meantime, I am already working hard physically to be ready and I am looking forward to working with Livia (ed. Lancelot) and the team. Actually, I immediately had a great feeling when I rode the CRF250R for the first time. The suspension is just perfect! The engine also completely suits my driving style. We will soon start testing the engine, so we are all focused on the new season. Being part of an official team will definitely help me take a step forward. This season we lacked some experience in our private family team and we were not able to participate in all rounds. So this year will be different and my father (ed. two-time world champion Mickael Pichon) will also have more time to work with me! I would like to thank Honda and Team 114 for providing me with this great opportunity. “
