De Soultrait wins, Quintanilla is in the lead
During the third stage of the Dakar Rally, Joan Barreda-Bort had to leave the race. The Spaniard hit a wall during the ride from San Juan de Marcona to Arequipe and had to give up. Victory went to Xavier De Soultrait, the French Yamaha rider managed to stay ahead of Pablo Quintanilla and Kevin Benavides. Because Matthias Walkner also had problems, Quintanilla is the new leader. The Chilean has a lead over Benavides of more than eleven minutes. Today Wesley Pittens became the best Dutchman with a neat 26th place. The Brabander rises to 36th place in the standings where he is now also the best Dutchman!
