Five minutes with Roan van de Moosdijk
Picked up at the end of the ride Roan Van de Moosdijk bronze in the EMX250 championship. The 18-year-old Eindhoven resident, who competed for Astes4-Tesar Yamaha, also won the European Championship round in Ottobiano. Those good performances subsequently translated into a switch to the Dutch F & H Racing team!
However, instead of a promotion to the World Championship, Van de Moosdijk will remain in the EMX250. His goal: to win the European MX2 title! According to the three-year contract, Roan will then switch to the MX2020 World Championship in 2.
You ended 2018 as 3rd in the EMX250. When you look back on the season, are you satisfied?
Roan Van de Moosdijk: “I am satisfied that I finished third in the final standings of the EMX250 championship. My start to the season was slow, but I finished strong. All in all, I am happy with my performance, especially towards the end of the season.”
Ultimately you signed with F&H Racing team. But there were reportedly quite a lot of offers. What was the deciding factor in choosing F&H?
From the Moosdijk: “That's right, there was indeed interest from many teams. That is of course always fantastic. We ultimately chose F&H because I know I can make progress with them because the setup is very strong.”
Will we see you in the MX2019 World Championship in 2 in rounds that do not coincide with the EMX250?
From the Moosdijk: “Yes, that's the plan. We will certainly pick certain rounds of the MX2 World Championship, but our focus for next season is of course the EMX250.”
After your third place this year in the EMX250, the goal is of course to win.
From the Moosdijk: “Yes, that is really my main goal for next year. I am fully committed to that.”
You have already ridden quite a few hours with the Kawasaki. What do you think of the engine?
Van de Moosdijk: “The KX250 is very easy to handle. I absolutely love it and have full confidence in the bike. It's a really good bike and I can't wait for the season to start to race with it.”
Also new is your collaboration with Marc de Reuver. What are your first impressions, you must be looking forward to learning from him?
From the Moosdijk: "Naturally! I learn from the master, he is a really cool guy. And also a good cameraman in training hahaha. No seriously, Marc is very helpful and he wants the very best from his riders. I am determined to show him and the team the best of myself in 2019!”
Who do you want to thank?
From the Moosdijk: “F&H Kawasaki, Yamaha Europe and David Philippaerts for the three years we have worked together, all the team sponsors, Linda Cuddy, all my friends and supporters.”
