Report: BMB champions honored!
Last Saturday the BMB honored the champions of the past season. Nearly a hundred riders traveled to the very centrally located Orp-le-Grand. The big star of this championship celebration was the sidecar cross world champion, Marvin Vanluchene!
In addition to the Belgian champions in all sporting disciplines, the European and World Championship medal winners were also rewarded. The sidecar motorcycle of the Vanluchene-Van Den Boogaart duo attracted the most attention on the podium. It was no coincidence that Marvin was the star performer in Orp! In addition to his world title and Belgian title, he was also awarded the Golden Handlebar, the BMB's highest sporting award.
Rising enduro star Matthew Van Oevelen deservedly won the award of Promising Hunger after his 4th place in the Youth Enduro World Championship. This year, the official Sherco rider was also the first Belgian ever to win a race at the Enduro World Championship!
Even more notable were the BMB environmental award for Supermoto coordinator Leslie Beys and the Fairplay Award for Sebastien Vanbaelen who protected a fallen rider during the Le Touquet Enduropale. Sebastien had already received the FIM Fairplay Award in Andorra for this action last week and was proud to now also pay tribute during the BMB.
Besides pride and joy, there were also some emotional moments. Like when Liam Everts' apology was read out. For understandable family reasons, Liam could not be present in person to collect his silver European Championship medal. Or when the sons of posthumous Classic Bike 350cc champion Clive Ling received his medal, cup and diploma.
