Joël Roelant's new trainer Darian Sanayei
Bike It DRT Kawasaki rider Darian Sanayei has hired Joël Roelants for his last World Championship MX2 season. Sanayei was convinced after he saw up close the progress his buddy Thomas Covington made under 'JR'. The fast Sanayei saw 2018 go up in smoke due to a serious knee injury.
The former EMX250 vice champion has repeatedly proven his speed and finished eleventh in 2017, his first World Championship season. Darian starts with high expectations for 2019: “My goal is very clear, I want to become world champion.”
Trainer Joël Roelants is charmed by the potential of his new pupil, but also sees a lot of room for improvement. “Physically, Sanayei can certainly become even stronger. And of course he also has to get better in the sand.” During the RedSand GP last season, Darian was close to his very first World Cup podium.
