Grizzly Yamaha Junior Team signs agreement with Coenen brothers
After a first season in the 65cc as an officially supported Yamaha Team, the Grizzly Yamaha Junior Team will expand to the 2019cc class in 85. The team will compete on the new Yamaha YZ85 with the talented Belgian brothers Coenen. Lucas and Sacha will defend the team's colors in the EMX85, ADAC, and Dutch Masters Championships.
With the addition of twins Lucas and Sacha Coenen (12), the team completes the line-up that also includes familiar faces Ashton Boughen (UK, EMX65), Jayson van Drunen (NED, EMX65) and Charlie van Nieuwland (NED, EMX85). make up.
By choosing Sacha and Lucas, the Grizzly Yamaha Junior Team has two contenders in all major competitions. Lucas, who became Dutch Champion 2016cc KW in 65, has already shown great things on the 2018cc in 85, and already came second in the strong ADAC championship in a round. Due to his stature, Sacha rode most of the time with small wheels against the big wheels. However, towards the end of the season he made the switch to the big wheels. Sacha made a strong impression in the Coupe de l'Avenir, among others. The agreement with both drivers has a duration of 2 years.
Richard de Beer, Grizzly Yamaha Junior Team technical director: “As a team we have been following both boys for several years. Although Lucas and Sacha each have their own style, I have always been very fond of both of them. They switched to 85 GW at a relatively early age and have made enormous strides in recent years. Lucas are 2e place in the ADAC is of course very eye-catching, but Sacha also really impressed me with his small wheels. The fact that we are going to start our YZ85 chapter with both of these men makes me really look forward to the new season, in which we really have a nice line-up.”
Bas Gal, Grizzly Yamaha Junior team manager: “Last season we debuted the Y65 for Yamaha Motor Europe in the EMX series. In the ONK we immediately achieved a nice third place with Jayson van Drunen. Next year we will also take charge of the YZ85 with the Grizzly Yamaha Junior Team. In close consultation with Yamaha we chose Lucas and Sacha. They have a lot of potential, not only for next season, but certainly for the longer term. We are confident that with the support of the team on the YZ85, the boys can achieve the results we are looking for together. We are very much looking forward to 2019!”
