Lars van Berkel takes day victory and Galvin Cup.
The last race for the Galvin Cup was held in Meijel. The big winner was Lars van Berkel (photo). He managed to take both the day's victory and the overall victory with two heat victories. Behind him it was a close battle for the remaining podium places. Ultimately it was René Albers who took second place on the podium based on the second heat. Third place went to Mike Bolink.
First heat
The best start was for Mike van den Bogaert with Eric Leijtens, van Berkel, Jacky Tausch and John Cuppen behind him. At the first crossing of the finish line it was Kay Ebben who reported in fourth place. On the second lap van Berkel took over the lead from van den Bogaert and it was now Cuppen who had passed Tausch who was now outside the top five. Cuppen also had to leave fifth place in the following round. Jaap Corneth had now crossed the finish line in fifth place. Two laps later he had to leave fifth place to Bolink again. Meanwhile, van Berkel, van den Bogaert and Leijtens had an advantage over the rest of the field. Van Berkel slowly but surely took a lead over Van den Bogaert and won the heat for him. Leijtens had to let go of the first two and was overtaken by Ebben who finished the heat in third place. In the last lap Leijtens also had to let Bolink pass him.
Second heat
Leijtens was now the fastest way ahead of Albers, Tausch and van den Bogaert. on the first pass Tausch had fallen to sixth place. Van Berkel came third and Jarno Derks reported fifth. On the next lap, van Berkel left no doubts about his intentions and took the lead. Ebben passed Tausch and Derks to take over fifth place. In lap five Leijtens made a mistake and fell far back. Bolink was moving up from ninth place and was now fifth. A few laps later, Ebben had passed van den Bogaert and Bolink in turn had passed both van den Bogaert and Ebben. The positions were now taken and the differences increased with each round. Van Berkel won the heat ahead of Albers, Bolink, Ebben and Derks

Second heat:
1. van Berkel, 2. Albers, 3. Mike Bolink, 4. Ebben, 5. Derks, 6. van den Bogaert, 7. van Veghel, 8. Leijtens, 9. Tausch, 10. Rannikko.
