Challenging circuit for supercrossers in Zuidbroek.
The eighth edition of the will take place from November 2 to 4 Dutch Supercross take place in the Eurohal Zuidbroek. This is the only major international supercross event in the Netherlands and in terms of starting field it can compete with the major competition that will follow in Stuttgart, Paris, Geneva, Birmingham and Turin. The name of the Groningen village appears on the SX competition calendar as a somewhat exceptional location for such an event. Exceptional or not, the Delfzijl organization will convert the Eurohal behind the Hotel-Restaurant Van der Valk into an SX arena. In recent years, the organization has shown that it has an understanding of this, which is rewarded with top riders from the scene who like to start in Zuidbroek. The public also knows where to find SX Zuidbroek. It is advisable to purchase tickets in advance, especially for Saturday evening Internet to order.
Circuit
Supercross is a specific form of motocross. The track is set up in a hall, the course is short, intensive with many obstacles. Special ground is needed to allow riders to ride such a course quickly and safely. Groningen clay is excellent. It is stored dry all year round behind the Eurohal. The fact that so many SX top riders want to start in Zuidbroek is partly due to the track that the Dutch Supercross makes available. The designer is former supercross racer Freddy Verherstraeten, who knows better than anyone how to build a challenging, spectacular and yet safe course on a relatively small surface area. The Eurohal is much smaller than the large stadiums where the supercrossers will show their skills in the coming months. The “box” in Zuidbroek is just as big as in Stuttgart and Paris, for example, and even bigger than in Chemnitz. In addition, the organization offers the riders extra track time as training. These extra facilities ensure that many international top riders enter Zuidbroek on Google maps and come to the Dutch Supercross.
Rider's field
Slowly but surely, the many national and international SX teams present themselves and the starting field becomes clear. Just like last year, Dutch Supercross will present an extremely strong field of participants. Castrol Power 1 Moto Base Suzuki, a German team, brings four absolute contenders into the arena at the SX1. Three Americans, Cole Martinez (King of Zuidbroek 2016), Justin Starling (Prince of Zuidbroek 2017) and Nicolas Schmidt (ADAX SX Cup winner 2016/2017). The fourth rider is Cedric Soubeyras, a Frenchman who has already won many SX competitions and recently won the Saturday final during the SX Marseille. DIGA Procross Husqvarna comes with Carl Ostermann (D, SX85), Julien Lebeau (F, SX2), Adrien Malaval (F, SX2) and Dominique Thury (D, SX1). Thury already won the Dutch Supercross SX2013 in 2 and is always in good shape in the hall and is a formidable competitor. Peter Mulder Motors brings Frenchman Brice Maylin from Toulouse. Maylin has never been to Zuidbroek but is often on the podium in France and has already won a supercross. Second rider is Ashley “Bad Boy” Greedy from Wales. Ashley always creates a spectacle and there is always something special happening. He also doesn't shy away from giving an elbow on the circuit. The absolute star in the Peter Mulder JR Husqvarna team is Chris Howell (USA). The American will ride the prestigious Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship, the largest supercross series worldwide, and will start on November 2,3,4, 1, 1 in Zuidbroek. The organization is very proud that Chris Howell is coming over and has a super gun from the American SX series at the start. But there are many more strong riders to come. Pol Motors from Harkema goes big with Harri Kullas (SF, SX2), Borris Maillard (F, SX2) and Kade Walker (CAN, SX1). The German Alfa Suspension SX team will start with three riders in the SX1 class, Paul Haberland, Oliver Kaas and Daniel Wewera, and two in the SX1, Fabian Romero and Frédéric Goul Jensen. The Dutch YSS Europe Racing team brings four well-known names: Charles Lefrancois (F, SX1), Marcus Lee Soper (UK, SX2), Joan Cross (E, SXXNUMX) and the Dutchman Jeffrey Meurs (SXXNUMX). New names now follow almost every day. Keeps the website or keep an eye on the FB page for updates.
Tennis promotion
Dutch Supercross Zuidbroek essentially works from the idea that it should be an accessible, beautiful and, above all, fun event. That is why the organization has had an eye for the “ordinary” cross rider from the start of Dutch Supercross, 8 years ago. The own members of the MC Delfcross and the crossers from the region. The top players of tomorrow come from today's recreational sports. Friday is therefore traditional for the regional and national riders. They will have a unique opportunity to show their skills on the challenging supercross course. That is difficult for many, but everyone has a lot of fun. The requests for the SX1 Cup/National were so large that the organization decided to also allow this class to run on Saturdays and Sundays. In the week prior to the event, there are training sessions by ex-cross rider Jan Postema and V.d. Vegt Motors free training opportunity. This commitment to recreational sport is one of the success factors of the Dutch Supercross.
Entertainment
Dutch Supercross, and especially the Inters SX1 and SX2, is absolute top sport. These international stars are professional motocross riders who have made their sport their job. But Dutch Supercross is much more than sport and excitement. Dutch Supercross is also entertainment. In addition to the spectacular competitions, there is a lot to do in the Eurohal. The mop orchestra the Utlopers will provide the Thialf atmosphere. DJ Willem for the exciting beats and the great afterparty where you can easily meet one of the American riders. They love the atmosphere. Come take a selfie with the charming Monster Energy ladies or with the cuddly Crossy. Good food and drinks, in short, Dutch Supercross is all about fun.
