Rowen Driessen takes MON MX2 youth title.
Rowen Driessen is during the MON ProX youth motocross Became Dutch Champion among the MX2 youth in Heeswijk. The Helmond native took third place twice in the heats. This also placed him third in the daily rankings. The day's victory went to two heat victories Boyd van der Voorn. For van der Voorn, this was his sixth day victory in eight competitions he has participated in this season. Jeremy Knuiman crossed the finish line twice and was also second in the overall standings. Fourth place was achieved by Juup Tax who, based on the second heat, kept Joey van der Zanden behind.
First heat
Holeshot king Tax was the fastest at the start. He was followed by Driessen, van der Voorn, Jelle Bankers and Knuiman. After two laps, Tax had fallen back to fourth place, partly due to a fall. In the third round Knuiman also passed Tax. Meanwhile, Bankers' foot had come off the support and he dropped out with a painful ankle. Van der Voorn took over the lead from Driessen on the fourth lap and continued to lead each lap. Driessen also had to deal with a broken clutch and Knuiman took advantage of this. Van der Voorn won the heat by a wide margin ahead of Knuiman. Driessen's third place was in fact enough to win the Dutch Championship. The only thing that could keep Driessen from the title today would be a disqualification in the second round. Fourth place went to van der Zanden, who had now passed Tax, who also finished fifth in the heat.
Second heat
It was again Tax who was the fastest ahead of van der Voorn, Driessen, Knuiman and van der Zanden. In the first two laps Tax had to let van der Voorn and Driessen pass. In the next round, Knuiman also passed Tax. Halfway through the heat, van der Voorn crashed while overtaking the leader of the free class. As a result, Driessen briefly took over the lead. Van der Voorn came back well and passed Driessen again to end the round winning. In the last lap Driessen had to let Knuiman pass in the battle for second place. Third place was more than enough for Driessen to win the Dutch Championship. Tax now took fourth place ahead of van der Zanden.
In the National Championship standings, one change took place at the top of the rankings. Michon Voets was not present due to an injury and dropped from third to fourth place.
