Marshal Weltin equals his best GP result!
The final of it FIM World MX2 Championship was held in Imola. On the Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari knew Marshal Weltin to ride a great first heat by crossing the finish line in fifth place. Adam Sterry did not have a smooth match due to his painful ankle. He still had a view of eleventh place in the final standings. That just didn't work out, but the Briton finished twelfth and is therefore the best Kawasaki rider. The victory went to Jorge Prado, who not only won the final but also secured the MX2 World Title.

After a reasonably good qualifying session on Saturday afternoon, the KX250F riders entered the race with confidence. The Leatt-clad riders come out of the first corner well outside the top ten. Things get intense right away and contact is not avoided. Marshal manages to enter the top ten in the third round. Not much later, Adam tries to do the same, but his compatriot Watson prevents him from doing so. In the second half of the race, the 22-year-old rider's painful ankle starts to worsen. Adam's pace has to be slowed down and this causes him to drop back to 21st place. He remains scoreless in the first round of the weekend while Marshal drives a great race. The friendly American manages to get into seventh place halfway through the race and then looks even further ahead. In the last five minutes, Lawrence and Covington get into trouble, causing Marshal's BO Oil-lubricated Kawasaki to cross the finish line in fifth! And with this Marshall equals his best performance of the season, during the Grand Prix of England he also finished fifth in the first round!

The last round of the season is not very good for both riders and they end the first full lap in the midfield. Marshal manages to quickly work his way from fifteenth to twelfth and can take over eleventh place after ten minutes of the race. In his 'drive' to enter the top ten, he wants a little too much, causing Marshal to fall on the waves and fall far outside the track, dropping back to 27th place where he also finishes. Adam builds up his race very well and knows that he has to distribute his forces well. The Briton, who turned 22 this month, worked his way from seventeenth to fourteenth place. With this he managed to climb two more places in the final ranking, where he managed to finish twelfth. A neat performance despite missing seven games due to injuries.
Next game:
The FIM MX2 World Championship is over and the South Holland team can look back on a good season including their first GP and Dutch Masters of Motocross podium! As announced two weeks ago in Assen, Adam Sterry and Henry Jacobi will compete for the F&H Racing Team in the 2 FIM World MX2019 Championship. Roan van de Moosdijk and Marshal Weltin will go for the maximum in the European 250cc Championship.
