VLM: Victorious King Martens continues his series in Kampenhout!
Earlier in the day, Thomas Covington won the MX2 GP and Thomas-Kjer Olsen finished third in Turkey. Yentel Martens put the icing on the cake for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team with a double series victory in Kampenhout! New champion Jens Van Meer came second, home rider Kenny Janssens took the podium in third.
There were also many cross riders among the participants of the MTB relay race in Kampenhout, which only made the atmosphere this weekend even more special. But the Kampenhout circuit, the ambiance in the tent and the beautiful trophies were also enjoyed!
Since the Inters match did not count towards the championship, it actually stood alone. However, that did not spoil the fun and there were plenty of other classes where championship points could be earned, such as the Beloften, Novices 250, Novices 500A, Novices Open B, Juniors Open and sidecars. The first round of the Beloften in particular was a spectacle in which Boyd Van Endert narrowly beat Axel Fosse.
In any case, the driving force behind the cross in Kampenhout, Kenny Janssens, could look back with satisfaction. In addition to the organizational success, Janssens was also sporty at the company! In the first moto the Racing Center KTM rider took the holeshot. After one lap Martens took control, but Janssens remained in second place for a long time. Only in the second half of the match was Van Meer able to deal with Janssens after a poor start! Cedric Grobben finished in 4th place.
The closing Inters round was started by Yentel Martens, but Kenny Janssens and Cedric Grobben also did well. Not only was the race very similar to that of the opening race, the top 5, including 250 winner Banken in 5th, was also completely identical to the first series! After the toppers, Stijn Verstrepen was the surprise of the second series with a nice sixth place. In the final ranking of the half-litres, 'de Streep' even achieved a fifth place.
