The Bullet celebrates for 40.000 fans!
For an enthusiastic Assen, Jeffrey Herlings put the crown on the job this afternoon. The Red Bull KTM rider rode to his 29th birthday with brioth series win of the season. Thanks to his first MXGP world title, the counter now stands at four. This means that 'The Bullet' has definitively joined the gallery of the greatest.
Just after arrival, Jeffrey was sucked into the festivities. Family, team members, cameramen, photographers, sponsors, fans, everyone wanted a piece of the wonder boy from Oploo.
In an initial reaction, Herlings said: “I don't know what to say... You've been working for this all my life. This is the ultimate crowning achievement, my first world title in MXGP. This is just like MotoGP or Formula 1, it doesn't get any higher than this! I had a lot going on this weekend. So many people around me, the fans, media, the expectation of becoming world champion in my own country... Mentally it was much harder than physically. It's a dream come true. I really enjoyed the last round. Wonderful to be able to share this with so many people and to become world champion in front of your own audience. This is very special!”
