Ruttenberg wins, Rok's new leader.
Richard Ruttenberg has won the eighth competition for the NK quads in Geldermalsen. For Ruttenberg, this was the third time after Halle and Den Dungen that he was allowed to enter the highest step of the podium. Second place went to Valentino Roks. This result made the Ecomaxx rider the new leader in the National Championship standings. The last place on the podium went to Mike Koolhaas.
First heat
After a restart of the first heat, Koolhaas was the fastest away. He was followed by the rest of the field led by Sam Ende, Roks, Ruttenberg and Arjan Bac. Roks took the lead on the first lap and Ruttenberg also passed Koolhaas and Ende. On the third lap Ruttenberg took over the lead and walked away from Roks one lap at a time. Ende dropped out of the top five on the fifth lap and eventually had to retire with a ruptured fuel line. It was now Jim Bos and Dani Hoffard who joined the first five. In the seventh round the final top five was formed when Bos was passed by Hoffard and Maryn Konst.
Second heat
It was now Ruttenberg who immediately managed to take the lead. He was followed by Roks, Bos, Ende and Koolhaas. Roks stayed close to the leader for a few laps, but Ruttenber eventually managed to build up a nice lead. For Ende, the second round was the end station when his quad stopped. It was Bac who was now fifth, but he was quickly passed by Hoffard. In the sixth and eighth laps Koolhaas and Hoffard passed Bos.
There were plenty of shifts at the top of the rankings in the National Championship standings. Roks is the new frontrunner for Hoffard. Marco Keunen falls back to third place. Ruttenberg rose from ninth to fourth. Wout Smits was not present and drops from fourth place to ten. Luc van Lenning passed Joey Meertens and is now fifth. Koolhaas comes from tenth place and is now eighth. New in the top ten is Daan van Rijswijck in ninth place.
