Jett Lawrence makes a big impression with victory.
His big brother Hunter Lawrence is most in the spotlight as a Grand Prix rider. The 15 year old Jett Lawrence however, makes the biggest impression this season. The Suzuki rider managed to win the first round of the final of the European 250cc Championship in Assen. The Aussie took the win with a wide lead Tom Vialle en Kevin Horgmo! With sixth place, Erik Willems is the best Laaglander, the Husqvarna rider is riding a very good race! Roan Van De Moosdijk runs into problems in the first corner, he fights back to fifteenth place. In the standings he loses one point to Martin Barr who finishes fourteenth. Mathys Boisrame bites the dust and crosses the finish line in nineteenth place, but the Honda rider is already assured of the title. Freek van der Vlist remains outside the points with 22nd place, Wesley Schepers is 31st and Mitchel Essenburg does not finish.
In the first moto, Dylan Walsh takes the best start for Vialle, while further down the field things go wrong for a number of riders. Vialle briefly takes the lead, but Lawrence emerges as the leader on the first full lap. An error by the leader puts Vialle back in the lead but Lawrence never leaves the Frenchman alone. Halfway through the race the Team Suzuki Germany rider regains the lead and wins the heat ahead of Vialle. Horgmo manages to get past Jeremy Sydow in the final phase. At the same time, third man Brian Strubhart Moreau crashes, causing the CreyMert Racing driver to even climb to third place. The talented Sydow crosses the finish line in fourth place ahead of Alberto Forato and Willems!!
The second round will be held tomorrow morning at 11.25am, which can of course be watched LIVE via MXGP-TV!
