Jeffrey Dewulf reigns supreme in Zegelsem
In addition to the riders, the circuit in Zegelsem was also one of the stars. The public and drivers thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful circuit and the organization of Opel Team Roelandt Roman. At the Inters MX1, Jeffrey Dewulf left no doubt about who was the strongest. Wulfke also wrote both series!
Kevin Fors took a great start in the first moto, but Jeffrey Dewulf wasted no time and raced to the front almost immediately. The surprising youngster Mattis Meersschout also made a good start, but it was guest driver Jens Getteman who quickly gave chase to Dewulf. Ultimately, however, Dewulf crossed the line as the winner with a lead of 17 seconds. Fors recovered from his early fall and came back from 6 to 3.
The second heat was without a doubt the most animated of the day. Getteman grabbed the holeshot and led the way until just before half way. The Belgian EX-MX2 champion then switched positions with Dewulf several times. However, the latter's regularity decided the match in his favor. Jeffrey consistently remained the fastest man in the race and finished almost 16 seconds ahead of Getteman. Kevin Fors was too far away at the start to play for the win, but the Reytec Husqvarna rider came back well. First he dealt heavily with Meersschout and then passed the well-started David Segers. Maarten Govaert, fourth in the first heat, now only finished tenth, meaning he had to leave fourth place to Segers in the final standings.
In the MX2, Mattis Meersschout was clearly the strongest. He was joined on stage by Henson Lievens and Jérôme Biets.
