BREAKING: Ivo Monticelli to Standing Construct KTM!
As we here have already been written Standing Construct KTM and Ivo Monticelli have reached an agreement for the 2019 MXGP season. The Belgian team just issued a press release about this. Monticelli is in his rookie season in the MXGP class this year and, at 24, is one of the youngest riders in the World Championship.
The Italian regularly surprised friend and foe with his speed, including a recovery to 6th place during the French GP, which he ultimately finished in 10th. Monticelli also proved to have the necessary capabilities in the Czech and Turkish GP. The Italian also has two European titles to his name. For 2019, Monticelli will focus on the MXGP World Championship where he will compete alongside Glenn Coldenhoff on a Standing Construct KTM450 SX-F.
Ivo Monticelli: “I am very pleased to have reached an agreement with Standing Construct KTM. I am convinced that with their professional way of working and the engines they have at their disposal, I can take the next step in my career. I think I can say that this year I have proven that I have the speed to ride in the top ten. With a team like Standing Construct KTM I have the complete package to achieve my goal and show what I can really do.”
Tim Mathys, team manager Standing Construct KTM: “After the agreement with Glenn Coldenhoff we had to make a decision regarding our second driver for 2019. We were very honored to be contacted by many interested riders which made the choice quite difficult. After mutual consultation, we have decided to choose a rider in the philosophy of how we have always worked as a team, namely choosing a young rider with potential who we think we can give him, by giving him a number of things that he has done so far. missed, could make better. In the past we have been able to take many riders, including Glenn Coldenhoff, Valentin Guillod and Julien Lieber, to a higher level and that is what we also want to achieve with Ivo Monticelli.”
