“I really enjoyed every round.”
Rob van de Veerdonk got off his bike with a broad smile after the second round of a wonderful GP weekend. The Brabander showed up strongly during the eighth race of the European 125cc Championship. The Galvin MX Team rider finished 29th and 24th during the EMX125 finals at the Assen TT Circuit. Teammate Cameron Durow managed to complete both heats despite his injury suffered more than six weeks ago. The victory went to Raivo Dankers, the Frenchman Thibault Benistant secured the title.

In the first heat both riders do not get off to a good start and in the second laps Rob also crashes. The Husqvarna rider therefore has to give chase, but he does this very well. The confidence after his 21st qualifying time gave him visible confidence. He dances with the FUCHS-Silkolene smeared over the artificial circuit and comes back to 29th place. Just before the EMX125 in Lommel, Cameron had a serious crash in Veldhoven. He then returned to South Africa where he had to undergo surgery. Within four weeks the 15-year-old rider was back on the bike, but the race in Assen was difficult. He starts the race just outside the top twenty, but after his motocross goggles break he drops back to 34th place.

Rob gets off to a better start in the second moto of the weekend and is able to come out of the first corner in the midfield. Cameron follows in around thirtieth place. In the first ten minutes, 15-year-old Cameron again makes up some places, but then the man with the hammer arrives. The minimal preparation is starting to bother him, but giving up is not an option. With a 29th place he is unable to score, but finishing both heats this weekend is already a big step forward. Rob needs to get up to operating temperature but then struggles between 22nd and 26th place. Things are intense because these teenagers are not going to let themselves pass by. With 24th place in his possession when the checkered flag falls, the entire team is very satisfied. “I really enjoyed every round. It was a tough weekend but I am very satisfied. A good and positive weekend!” says the Brabander enthusiastically after the race of 25 minutes and two laps.
