Presentation: 2019 Gas Gas enduros!
After a number of difficult years, Gas Gas presented an enduro and XC range again last year (model year 2018). In addition to the usual models, the Spanish off-road brand comes with an enduro engine for recreational users.
In 2019, Gas Gas will continue to only build two-stroke machines. Logical, because it is precisely there where the bulk of sales are located. The customer can choose from a 200 cc, 250 cc and 300 cc variant in both Enduro (EC) and Cross-Country trim (XC).
EC models
The Gas Gas EC models underwent quite a few updates for the 2019 model year:
– A button mounted on the left handlebar to choose between two different engine characteristics (Dry/Wet). With 'Wet' the power delivery is moderated somewhat to make the machine more manageable in slippery conditions.
– A new wiring harness and a more powerful and lighter lithium battery
– New cylinder head on 200 cc and 300 cc variants
– A new 36mm carburetor on the 200cc variant
– Curved handlebars from Neken + Neken handles
– Stiffer handlebar clamps + protector with Gas Gas logo
– Side chassis protectors
– Redesigned number plates and rear fender to make it easier to access the air filter.
– New digital counter
– New graphics.
Gas Gas continues to equip its enduro machines with high-quality components for the 2019 model year. They have an FMF exhaust silencer, Excel wheels, a front fork and shock absorber from KYB, Michelin tires and Nissin brakes. In addition, the Gas Gas enduro machines are also equipped with a clutch from the American brand Rekluse, which is operated via a Magura clutch lever.
In addition to the regular EC models, Gas Gas may soon also come with Six Days models and the semi-factory EnduroGP variants.
XC models
Gas Gas will also be launching an XC variant of the enduro machines in 2019. These are technically almost identical to the EC models, but are not street legal due to the lack of lights and license plate holder. They are still equipped with a side stand. If this is removed, the XC models can also be used for Motocross or Grass Track racing.
ECRanger
In addition to the familiar enduro models, Gas Gas is launching a new concept for the 2019 model year: the ECRanger. A machine that is aimed at the recreational user and that therefore competes with KTM's Freeride and the Beta X-Trainer. The ECRanger will be available with the 250 cc and 300 cc engine. These power sources will have been 'down-tuned' in the ECRanger.
Just like the EC models, the ECRangers also have KYB suspension. On the ECRanger the suspension is softer and lower. The ECRanger therefore has a saddle height of 920 mm (instead of 960 mm on the enduro models). Gas Gas did save money on the ECRanger with cheaper brakes, brake discs and triple clamps. As a result, the price of the ECRangers would be about € 1000 lower than that of the regular enduro models.
