Team Netherlands is counting down to the Junior World Championships in Australia!
The Junior Motocross World Championships will take place in Horsham, Australia from August 24 to 26. In contrast to Belgium, the Netherlands does send a large and strong delegation. No fewer than nine orange crossers will give the best of themselves 'down under' in the 65cc, 85cc and 125cc.
In 2017, Team Netherlands returned from Estonia with one individual world title (Ivano Van Erp in 65cc), one bronze medal (Kay Karssemakers) and three top-10 finishes (Kay De Wolf, Rick Elzinga and Raivo Dankers). In addition, Team Netherlands also finished second in the 125cc country rankings. Doing better this year is therefore not that easy. Still, we are working hard to score again this year. Coach Barry Forchelen has already completed several group training sessions with its riders and in the meantime all logistical preparations have been made.
It will be quite an adventure, especially for the 125cc riders. Since they will travel directly from Switzerland to Australia after the EMX125 round of Frauenfeld next weekend. Horsham is located 300 km northwest of Melbourne.
De 65cc selection consists of: Damien Knuiman, Lotte van Drunen and Bradley Mesters
De 85cc selection consists of: Kay de Wolf, Kay Karssemakers, Dave Kooiker
De 125cc selection consists of: Rick Elzinga, Raivo Dankers and Raf Meuwissen
