Preview FIM Junior World Championship 2018.
This weekend will be in Horsham the FIM Junior World Championship driven. The best youth riders in the world come together once a year to hunt for the most important title. Of course, 'past results are no guarantee for the future', but it is certainly not a disadvantage to have one of these titles to your name. We look ahead with no fewer than nine Dutch people and one Belgian in the leading roles.
65cc:
Of course we have a lot of confidence in it Damien Knuiman which is the title favorite for us. The Gelderlander had to leave the EMX title to Brando Rispoli who simply took the most points. Knuiman had a bad start in the second moto and had to fight back from outside the top ten. Jakob Madsen managed to finish second in Loket, he is very consistent and that is of course also very important! Bradley Masters certainly expected more from the EMX final, but it didn't all fall into place in the Czech Republic. Hopefully the Brabander can take revenge in Australia. Lotte van Drunen is the only lady in the entire Youth World Cup and not just any one! The Husqvarna rider won the first EMX North-West and finished tenth in the EMX final. Can the 11-year-old student join the battle? She will face Australians Jet Alsop and Kayden Minear while the USA will send Kade Johnson and Logan Best. Enzo Temmerman is an American but his father was born in Belgium!
85cc:
The European title went to South African Camden Mc Lellan who rode a strong final. The Kosak rider managed to take full advantage of the crash in the first moto Kay the Wolf at the starting area. The Brabander went like a rocket and came back to sixth place in the first moto. He won the second round with flying colors, but the Team Beursfoon rider fell short for the title. We tip De Wolf as the new champion, but it won't be easy! Kay Karssemakers still has something to make up for and Liam Evert (the only Belgian during this World Cup) his hunger has not yet been satisfied. Special thanks to Kawasaki rider Ryder Difrancesco and Dave Kooiker, who can still be active in this class next year!
125cc:
Due to the loss of Rene Hofer, Mattia Guadagnini is the favorite in our opinion. The Italian had to miss two EMX races due to injury, but has already won three. Thibault Bénistant is in good shape in the EMX125, but should also be seen as a contender for the title, something that also applies to Rick Elzinga which we expect as the fastest Dutchman. The MJC rider lacks competition rhythm due to injuries, but he can certainly maintain the speed. His KNMV teammates Raivo Dankers en Raf Meuwissen will certainly try to score high. Dankers is used to riding strong finals because he won the EMX65, EMX85 and WK85 titles in the past.
