Bad luck for Salaets during IMBA MX open Ohlenberg.
The fourth race for the IMBA MX open took place in Ohlenberg, Germany. Around 2.000 spectators saw the English motocross riders dominate again.
The day's victory went to Gary Gibson (GB). After a ninth place in the first moto, he led the next two motos from start to finish and achieved 2 moto victories. With two second and fourth places in the heats, Josh Waterman (GB) took second place in the overall classification. He finished ahead of fellow countryman James Dodd, who finished on the podium in all heats and finished third in the overall standings. The fourth Briton present, Shane Carless, also finished fourth in the overall standings. The 17-year-old German Pit Rickert was “best of the rest” with fifth place in the daily rankings.
It was a black day for Jonas Salaets (Bel). After finishing fourth in the first moto, he was involved in a starting crash in the next two motos. In the second moto he managed to finish fourteenth and in the third moto he had to leave the arena after the crash and scored a zero score.
The best lowlander was Jacky Tausch from Elshout. After a bad luck in time training, the Dutchman had to ride the race on his spare bike with less power and finished tenth in the daily rankings. He thus beat fellow countryman Niels de Klein and the best Belgian Damon Goyvaert, who finished eleventh and twelfth.
In the European Championship standings, Shane Carless remains in the lead ahead of Josh Waterman and James Dodd. Jonas Salaets drops to sixth place and was passed by Gary Gibson and Nicolaj Damsgaard (Den) and is now in sixth place. The best Dutchman is Niels de Klein in eighth place.
