MX2: Pauls Jonass finally achieved another victory.
In recent weeks, Pauls Jonass has had to bend his knees time and time again for KTM colleague Jorge Prado-Garcia. In Frauenfeld, the 21-year-old rider won the first heat ahead of Jorge Prado-Garcia and Thomas Covington. The best Laaglander is Brent Vandoninck, he crosses the finish line in sixteenth. Unfortunately, Calvin Vlaanderen does not finish, he drops out in the third lap with engine trouble. Micha Boy de Waal also had to leave the race early, while Bas Vaessen crossed the finish line as 22nd after a pit stop. Jago Geerts will not play, he broke his collarbone in the qualifying match yesterday. Davy Pootjes has decided to allow his injury from Indonesia to recover properly to return to action in Assen.
In the first heat of the weekend over 30 minutes and two laps, Prado takes the best start. The 17-year-old rider is followed by Jonass and a lot of blue (read Yamaha) while Thomas Kjer Olsen crashes. At the exit of the second corner, Anthony Rodriguez joins the title rivals, but not much later Jonass returns to second place. In the initial phase, the KEMEA Racing rider manages to keep the KTM duo in sight, but later they manage to distance themselves. Prado maintains the lead for the first half of the match, but Jonas comes alongside due to a mistake. The Latvian takes control and tries to break free, but that is not easy. Only after the sign for the last two laps goes out will a difference arise after which Jonass' victory is no longer in danger. Prado comes second ahead of Covington who needs almost 30 minutes to get behind Rodriguez. The 23-year-old Yamaha rider finished fourth ahead of Hunter Lawrence.
