Herlings to an easy victory in qualifying in Bulgaria
The seventeenth round of the world championship will be held on the beautiful Sevlievo circuit in Bulgaria. Today, on Saturday, the pilots competed as usual in qualifying for a good place behind the starting gate.
This qualifying series was dominated from start to finish by the Dutch world championship leader, Jeffrey Herlings! The KTM pilot rode to an easy victory with some super fast lap times. Secondly, we saw the two-time world champion Tim Gajser cross the finish line, the HRC Pilot finally seems to be slowly but surely recovering from the severe concussions that followed him for a long time like a shadow from a horror movie. In third place we got the Belgian Clément Desalle who in turn was ahead of Romain Febvre and Antonio Cairoli.
Antonio Cairoli had a solid series, despite his knee injury. He did not have the speed to keep Romain Febvre behind him, but with a fifth place he can look back on a positive dress rehearsal for tomorrow, where he may be able to squeeze something extra out of that old body.
We found the other lowlanders, including Jeremy Van Horebeek in ninth place, Julien Lieber in tenth place, Kevin Strijbos in twelfth place and Glenn Coldenhoff in thirteenth place. Nathan Renkens finished just outside the top twenty in twenty-second.
