Will Jago Geerts be fit for Zwarte Cross?
The 13th of the World Cup, in Semarang, Indonesia, did not produce the hoped-for results Jago Geerts. The teenager suffered an ankle injury and had to forfeit the second series. In the first moto the Kemea-Yamaha rider finished tenth.
On Saturday, Jago Geerts qualified 12th after an unforeseen high sider, until then he was eighth. In the opening race he entered the first corner in eighth place, but lost two more places and also crashed briefly at the end. No Jago at the start of the second series. The Belgian teenager crashed in the warm-up lap of the second series and twisted his ankle again. Geerts could barely walk and had no choice but to forfeit the second series.
Geerts is in the lead in the 250 class in the Dutch Masters of Motocross. There he is 13 points ahead of Calvin Vlaanderen and 28 points ahead of Davy Pootjes. Next weekend the Dutch Masters final will take place during the “Zwarte Cross” in Lichtenvoorde. Geerts remains seventh in the World Championship standings.
Jago Geerts: “I crashed on a wet spot during the warm-up lap of the second moto and twisted my ankle. It's the same injury as earlier this season. I was in a lot of pain and had difficulty walking. I had no choice but to forfeit the second series. A heavy blow. I now hope to get fit for next weekend, for the final round of the Dutch Masters in Lichtenvoorde.”
