Lotte van Drunen tenth in the EMX65 final.
Lotte van Drunen of MX Team Van Drunen finished in an impressive tenth place in the final of the European 65cc Championship in Loket, Czech Republic. The 10-year-old lady from Sliedrecht fought for all she was worth on the technical circuit and managed to finish ninth and eleventh in the heats!
In the selection competitions prior to the final, Lotte had managed to qualify second in the north/west zone. This was already a top performance and she looked forward to the final with great enthusiasm.
Lotte did not have an easy time in training on the technical circuit with height differences. Things went better in the timed training, but she suffered a serious fall. Despite this, she managed to set a twelfth time, making her only 0,6 seconds slower than the sixth man.
Before the start of the first heat, Lotte was somewhat tense. Nevertheless, she got a very good start and almost took the holeshot on her Brouwer Motors-Husqvarna, but had to take a few steps back after the first corner. In the initial phase she had some difficulty finding the right lines and rhythm and fluctuated between sixth and tenth place. After a heat in which she had fought hard, she managed to cross the finish line in ninth place.
It had rained a lot during the night from Saturday to Sunday, making the track in the second heat even more difficult. She again got a good start but was hit by another rider in the first corner. She was able to stay on the bike, but only managed to cross the first few bumps in around twentieth place. She rode a good catch-up race and managed to cross the finish line in a respectable eleventh place.
With a 9-11 in the heats she finished tenth in the daily rankings and achieved a unique performance. Lotte is scheduled to compete in the 65cc World Championship in Australia at the end of August.
