Jarno Derks the strongest in Bergharen.
Jarno Derks achieved the day's victory in the MX open inters class during the MON 24MX National Motocross Bergharen. Derks defeated Van de Laar Racing driver René Albers in the first round in a direct duel. In the second moto it was Van de Laar Racingrider Davey Janssen who took advantage of a fall from Derks and won the heat. Janssen finished second in the daily rankings ahead of teammate Albers.
First round MX open inters
In the first round Roy Hoeijmakers made the leading start, ahead of René Albers, Joshua van der Linden, Jacky Tausch and Jarno Derks. In the first round, number 2 in the standings of the MON MX open Inters 2018 van der Linden fell. He tried to finish the heat well behind, but two laps later he finally dropped out for the day. In the meantime, Albers and Tausch had passed Hoeijmakers and Albers had quickly built up a large lead. Albers seemed to be heading for the heat victory unthreatened, but this was beyond Janssen's control. Janssen passed Tausch and gave chase to Albers. On the eleventh lap he took over the lead and won the moto ahead of Albers. Tausch finished third, well behind Janssen. Stijn Blom crossed the finish line in fifth place after catching up from the middle of the pack.
Second round MX open inters
Albers was now the fastest ahead of Janssen, Hoeijmakers, Derks and Tausch. Hoeijmakers dropped out of the top 5 after one round and would finish in the middle of the pack. Janssen and Derks passed Albers in the first lap. Halfway through the heat, Janssen had a lead of more than 4 seconds over Derks. After this, Derks started and on the 14th lap he overtook Janssen and took over the lead. However, at the start of the last lap, Derks slipped and Janssen took advantage and took the heat victory. Janssen retained second place well ahead of Albers. Tausch just stayed ahead of Ronnie van Rooij to finish in fourth place.
In the MX2 inters the victory went to Maikel van Balen. He managed to win both heats. Second place went to Henk Pater with a third and second place in the heats. Jordy van Orsouw finished third in the daily rankings based on the second heat.
In the standings of the MON MX open inters, the top 3 remains unchanged. Mike van den Bogaert did not participate and falls from fifth place to eighth. The most important climber is Davey Janssen, who has risen from ninth place to fourth place.
Maikel van Balen takes over the lead in the standings of the MON MX 2 inters. He has passed Henk Pater and Levi Schoonderbeek.
