Aaron Plessinger rules in AMA250 Red Bud!
In the AMA 250 class they were also ready for the seventh race of the twelve-race AMA Motocross championship. At the upcoming “Motocross des Nations” circuit, we were looking forward to seeing who could perform strongly and thus put themselves in the spotlight for a place in team America. But also what about Dylan Ferrandis, would the Frenchman show the national federation what he could do on this circuit?!
The first heat started with a holeshot for Shane McElrath. The KTM pilot who was previously known as a pilot who was mainly strong in supercross, is gradually becoming stronger in motocross. The TLD KTM pilot was able to enjoy the lead in the race for two laps until one Aaron Plessinger passed like a true superman due to Larroco's leap. The Yamaha pilot had previously used this jump to pass Austin Forkner and then used it again on Shane McElrath. The Yamaha pilot then seemed to have opened the way to an easy victory. However, this was without counting Austin Forkner who seemed to find his rhythm more and more over time and managed to set fast laps. This put the Pro Circuit Kawasaki pilot back on the wheel of race leader Aaron Plessinger. For a moment, Austin Forkner even manages to take over the lead in the race, but this is not to the liking of championship leader Aaron Plessinger, who sends Austin Forkner into the background in the next corner. This means that a possible victory for Austin Forkner ends in a collision and then crash for the second week in a row. Exit Austin Forkner! Aaron Plessinger does not let it get to his heart and continues unopposed to victory in the first moto, ahead of RJ Hampshire and Dylan Ferrandis, who came from the middle.
In the second moto we immediately saw a crash in the first corner with names like Shane McElrath, Colt Nichols and RJ Hampshire. As these guys looked for and picked up their bikes we saw that Mitchell Harrison had claimed the holeshot. Mitchell Harrison, who had just returned from injury, quickly fell through the ice, giving us Aaron Plessinger the lead again. Behind him an interesting duel developed, initially between Joey Savatgy and Alex Martin, but about ten minutes into the match this duo was joined by the hotter Austin Forkner. Due to the intensity of the duel and because these three did not want to give each other an inch, they forced each other to jump the dangerous “Larocco's Leap”. It was Joey Savatgy who first withdrew from this madhouse. Austin Forkner and Alex Martin continued their duel, this time clean unlike in Southwick, and Austin Forkner took the upper hand from Alex Martin. However, the race leader was just too far away for Austin Forkner and the Pro Circuit Kawasaki pilot finished a close second, after his DNF in the first moto. This is behind double series winner Aaron Plessinger and ahead of Alex Martin. In fourth place we found Dylan Ferrandis who managed to outpace Joey Savatgy in the last lap, after another overtaking hunt from twelve place!
The overall victory logically goes to Aaron Plessinger with his double series victory. Joining him on the podium were Alex Martin (4-3) and Dylan Ferrandis (3-4).
