Once again Eli Tomac wins, but he had to work for it in Muddy Creek!
Who will stop Eli Tomac in the AMA450 class? That is the question that has now been asked for the fifth game in a row. Would he now be stopped in Muddy Creek, after he faltered a bit last week but still managed to win the overall, would he?
In the first heat it was Ken Roczen who managed to take the holeshot. The other tenors such as Justin Barcia, Eli Tomac and Marvin Musquin were well in the vanguard. But when the lines of Justin Barcia and Marvin Musquin crossed in the third corner, the Frenchman crashed. The entire pack rushed past him and only Jacob Hayes, last season's AMA Arenacross champion, remained behind with him. Both had to work!
At the front we saw Ken Roczen give the best of himself. The German, who is still not fully 100% after all his injuries and is now mainly struggling with what we know as tennis elbow, did everything he could to keep both Eli Tomac and Justin Barcia behind him. He managed this quite well for about five laps, and then he had to let both go. Eli Tomac then checked out and won the series ahead of a strong Justin Barcia and Ken Roczen. Two KTMs with Blake Baggett and the completely unleashed Marvin Musquin completed the top five!
The second round started like the first, with a holeshot from Ken Roczen! This time, however, Justin Barcia made short work of the HRC Honda pilot on the first lap and Marvin Musquin, who had a good start this time, followed suit on the second lap. Anyone who did not have a good start was the Frenchman's competitor; Eli Tomac was in the middle of the peloton, around the 20-15 position in the initial phase of this heat! While the championship leader did everything he could to score every point possible, a duel arose at the front between Justin Barcia and Marvin Musquin. The self-cursing and unleashed Marvin Musquin clearly started with the idea of taking revenge on himself and everyone else. He quickly found a way past Justin Barcia and then cruised to his second moto win of the season! This means that the Frenchman remains the only one who has been able to beat Eli Tomac so far! Oh where did this go?! The Kawasaki pilot managed to masterfully drive himself to third place, behind Marvin Musquin and Justin Barcia. He finished ahead of Ken Roczen and Blake Baggett who completed the top five.
With his victory in the first heat and his third place in the second heat, Eli Tomac was also assured of his fifth overall victory out of five! Joining us on the podium were Justin Barcia in second place and Marvin Musquin in third place. In the championship, the American Kawasaki pilot is now 32 points ahead of Marvin Musquin and about 58 points ahead of third man in the championship Justin Barcia!
