Mulders-Van de Wiel strongest in Eersel.
During the 24MX MON national motocross in Eersel, Frank Mulders (Bergharen) and Henry van de Wiel (Berlicum) won the day in the sidecar inters. The sidecar combination took victory in both heats ahead of Carlo van Duijnhoven (Ledeacker) and Roy Bijenhof (The Hague). René Stalman (Bel) and Joep van de Leuken (Lithoijen) achieved third place in the daily rankings with a fourth and third place in the heats.
In the first round the best start was for the combinations of Mulders / van de Wiel, van Duijnhoven / Bijenhof and Stalman / van de Leuken. Mulders and / van de Wiel set the pace with van Duijnhoven / Beijenhof right behind them. Stalman / van de Leuken lost more than three seconds per lap on both combinations and quickly had to focus on defending third place. Mulders / van de Wiel slowly but surely moved ahead of van Duijnhoven / Beijenhof and took the lead with 15 seconds. lead the heat victory. Stalman / van de Leuken had to leave third place in the fifth round to Stephan Weijers (Meijel) / Siebe van der Putten (Veghel). Glenn van der Schraelen (Bel) / Thomas Smeuninx (Bel) took fifth place in the heat. Leaders in the National Championship standings: Frans van Rooij (Bel) / Haske Maas (Someren) were not involved in the heat and finished in a disappointing tenth place.
In the second heat it was again Mulders / Van de Wiel who immediately took the lead ahead of van Duijnhoven / Bijenhof. As in the first heat, Mulders / Van de Wiel steadily built up a lead. Three laps before the checkered flag fell, van Duijnhoven / Bijenhof had 8 sec. behind Mulders / van de Wiel and a big lead over Stalman / van de Leuken and they dropped the pace. Mulders / van de Wiel won the heat by 28 sec. difference on nan Duijnhoven / Bijenhof. In the battle for third place in the heat, Stalman / van de Leuken narrowly edged out Patrick Greup (Bergharen) / Maurice Visser (Hattem), who were referred back in the final round by Bram van Dijk (Meijel) / Loet van der Putten (Handel). to fifth place. Van Rooij / Senders lost important points with another tenth place.
In the sidecar nationals, the day's victory went to Max Bevers (Helmond) / Gijs van Boxtel (Budel). Michel van de Goor (Lithoyen) / Lars Vos (Lithoyen) finished second ahead of Dimitri Lenaerts (Bel) / Joey Verhoeven (Bel).
In the net standings of the National Championship, Greup / Visser are in the lead ahead of van Rooij / Maas. Mulders / van de Wiel enter the top 5. This is at the expense of Jos Bissels (Schijndel) / Wessel Susebeek (Zelhem) who dropped out in the first corner of the first heat with a defective heater.
