Mario Lucas gives F4E Racing its first title!
In the team's first EMX125 race, Mario Lucas immediately gave F4E Racing a podium finish. However, the talented Spaniard captured the Spanish 125cc title last weekend in Malpartida de Caceres, the final of the Spanish championship! This also marks the first important title for the team of Jimmy Verburgh and Mika Detout.
In the hot Malpartida, Lucas only needed a second place in the first heat on Saturday to secure the title. Also on Sunday, Mario came second after Oriol Oliver. Of the ten rounds in the championship over five rounds, the F4E Racing rider won a total of five.
Kjell Verbruggen on a roll in ONK Lelystad
In Lelystad, Dutch, Kjell Verbruggen and Wannes van de Voorde were at the start in the seventh round of the ONK. Verbruggen, who knows the track well, is clearly on his way back to his best form after his knee injury. Kjell finished fifth and third, just a few points off the final podium. For the time being, the youngest F4E Racing driver is fifth in the ONK standings.
Wannes had a good start in the first race but crashed early. For the Belgian champion it was his very first match on the hard Dutch track and van de Voorde never found his feet. As a result, he had to settle for 20th place in the final score. In the first heat 'Wanny' finished 26th, in the second he came in 15th. Van de Voorde is in 12th place in the standings.
Mario Lucas: "Success! When you drive for the championship, it is always something different than when you go all out for victory. There could have been more in the second race, but I was held up by the doubled riders. It was a good weekend anyway and the perfect way to say goodbye to the 125 in Spain with the extension of my Spanish 125cc title. Now I can fully focus on the last EMX125 races. Next year I will switch to the MX2.”
