Malcolm Stewart is coming to Zwarte Cross!
Just under three weeks to go and the time has come: the fantastic final of the Dutch Masters of Motocross during the Zwarte Cross in Lichtenvoorde on July 13, 14 and 15. A finale where sparks will fly. Thanks also to Malcolm Stewart, the spectacular American with his striking dreadlocks, who plans to seriously challenge the 500cc toppers.
MALCOLM WHO?
The established names from the DMofMX, including of course classification leader Jeffrey Herlings, will have to work hard to keep 'wild card rider' Stewart behind them. Popular for his beautiful jumps and daring riding style, Malcolm is now also a household name outside America. Just like his older brother James 'Bubba' Stewart, known for his famous, perfectly executed 'scrubs', he belongs to the top of the American AMA Supercross Championship Series. In addition to Malcolm Stewart, the Zwarte Cross audience will be introduced to another fast American: it was previously announced that top driver Justin Starling will appear at the starting gate in the 250cc. A DMofMX final with American allure.
THE PREDATOR
His nickname 'The Predator' says everything about Malcolm Stewart's intentions in Lichtenvoorde. He is feared in the field of competitors for his fighting spirit and dogged driving style, in which he does not shy away from contact with other riders. Can he also live up to that reputation on a real Dutch sand circuit? Tens of thousands of fans along the track at the Zwarte Cross will discover this during the final of the Dutch Masters: Malcolm will ride the 500cc on his Pol Motors-Suzuki with starting number 271 on Saturday and Sunday.
FROM OUTDOOR TO INDOOR
Malcolm made his professional debut as a motocross rider in the Lites Eastern class on Suzuki in 2011. After a disappointing 2012 season, he switched to the West region, where he played for the Troy Lee Designs Honda Team in 2013 and 2014. In 2014 he switched from outdoor racing to the indoor Supercross championship and signed for the Geico Honda Team in the 450cc. In 2015 he also only rode indoors. After an upward trend in his results, the first major success came in 2016. With two victories and six podium finishes, he won the East Coast 250cc Supercross Championship. In 2017 he started in that Series as a 'rookie' in the 450cc, but missed the first two races because he had not yet secured his bike and sponsorship. That worked from race three onwards; 2017 became a learning year for him, with a 15th place overall. This year Malcolm signed as a substitute for Joe Gibbs Suzuki Racing Team.
DMOMX BLACK CROSS
Malcolm Stewart, who is, among other things, an ambassador for the clothing brand SEVEN, is looking forward to stealing the show during the final of the Dutch Masters of Motocross at the Zwarte Cross, the largest festival event in the Netherlands. The spectacle and the many spectators will certainly bring out the best in him for spectacular jumps and blood-curdling overtaking maneuvers. Come and see it at the 'De Schans' circuit in Lichtenvoorde!
