Kevin Horgmo close to the EMX podium!
In a particularly sunny and warm Ottobiano, Kevin Horgmo almost rode himself onto the podium. The Norwegian finished fourth in the first round on the Italian sand circuit. In the second round, the CreyMert Racing rider crashed in the early stages and had to fight back. By taking 14th place, Kevin managed to score points again. The victory went to Roan van de Moosdijk, the Frenchman Mathys Boisrame remains the leader in the standings.
250cc:
Qualifying went smoothly and Kevin managed to set the fifth fastest time in his group. The KTM rider starts the first moto well and starts third. However, in the first round the 17-year-old rider makes a mistake, which causes him to briefly come into contact with the sand. Fortunately, Kevin is able to continue quickly and manages to finish the first full lap in seventh place. When fourth man Moreau makes a mistake in the fourth laps, Kevin manages to make up a spot and halfway through the race the Australian Lawrence is passed. The pursuit of fourth man Renaux is started and after a twenty-minute match the former world youth champion is also captured. Kevin is in fourth place and sees Van de Moosdijk driving. Little by little, the FXR-clad motocross rider comes closer, but Van de Moosdijk cannot be caught and comes third ahead of Kevin.
The second heat starts less well, but Kevin seems to be quickly entering the top ten. However, then things go wrong and he falls! From 39th place he has to work his way up and that is really fun! The team is happy to watch how the SXF250, equipped with a fresh TwinAir filter, is sent through the field. Halfway through this race over 25 minutes and two laps, Kevin enters the top twenty. So he is again in the points, but that is not enough. The blonde rider dances over the deep ruts and comes back fantastic to fourteenth place. Of course 'if' doesn't count, but with two more laps there might have been a top ten. What a great performance by Kevin who returns to the team truck tired and disappointed.
Next game:
After a number of busy weeks, the Belgian team now has a month 'off' because the final of the KNMV Dutch Masters of Motocross will be held on July 14-15. This race will take place in Lichtenvoorde and both riders will be in action.
