Jonas Salaets takes IMBA podium, Bielen 4th in MX2
The British round of the IMBA in the MX2 and Inters Open was held in Lower Drayton last weekend. The AMCA riders were victorious in both the Inters Open (Shane Carless) and the MX2 (Luke Burton). Still, there were good Belgian performances for Jonas Salaets (4-3-5), who climbed onto the Inters Open podium. Glenn Bielen, who finished second in the final, finished fourth in the MX2.
The international interest in this competition was somewhat disappointing. The absence of the Dutch riders was particularly noticeable. Shane Carless was the strongest (2-1-2) at the Inters Open, but without mistakes and falls there might have been more for Jonas Salaets. Niels De Klein finished ninth.
In MX2 we even got an all British podium with Burton (2-1-1), Ray Rowson (1-2-3) and Lewis King (3-3-5). Glenn Bielen was the best Belgian in fourth place. Top 10 places were reserved for Kristof Van Vaerenbergh, sixth in the third series, the young Bradd Descamps and veteran Kris Fleerackers.
