French SX Championship starts in front of 14.000 visitors! (+VIDEO)
Last weekend the French Supercross Championship got underway in Clermont-Ferrand, France. No Americans on the bill because they are still in their outdoor season and yet the “Stade Marcel Michelin”, normally used for rugby, was quite full! Of the 19.000 places, 14.000 were occupied and this for the first edition of this competition! A successful debut for the organization, which clearly shows that promotion is immensely important, also outside motocross circles! Were the matches also promotional for the sport?
In the SX2 class, the audience saw an interesting duel between the Swiss Killian Auberson, who already has a lot of AMA Supercross experience under his belt, and the brand new JPM Suzuki pilot Thomas Do. Thomas Do left the BOS team a few weeks ago with a view to the French Supercross season. It was Thomas Do who came out on top ahead of Killian Auberson and Lucas Imbert. Another favorite for the title, Yannis Irsuti, who fell in this final and was only classified fifteenth, recently left the JPM Suzuki team and now competes for the BUD Kawasaki team. This way you are up to date with the French Supercross Championship and their transfers.
In the SX1 class we looked at how well Thomas Ramette would have recovered from the injury he sustained in America. A few days before the race, the Suzuki pilot still had doubts about his participation, but on Saturday we found him at the start. Fortunately, because he provided a nice duel with Cedric Soubeyras. Thomas Ramette kept Cedric Soubeyras busy until halfway through the match, and Ramette managed to counter the first attack. However, the second attack was a hit for Cedric Soubeyras, Thomas Ramette then had to limit himself to following and with that Cedric Soubeyras rode to the first victory of the 2018 SX Tour championship ahead of Thomas Ramette and Greg Aranda. In fourth place we found former 24MX Honda pilot, now SR Honda pilot Xavier Boog and in fifth place was Valentin Teillet.
