Burgmans scores well in scorching Ottobiano.
The conditions during the fourth round of the FIM World WMX Championship were particularly tough. The sun provided a lot of heat and the tough sand circuit created a lot of sweat! The race just south of Milan went well for Eline Burgmans. The KTM rider managed to score in both heats and rises to 21st place in the standings. The victory went to Nancy van de Ven, New Zealand's Courtney Duncan remains in the lead after four of the six games.
After fifteenth training time, Eline enters the competition with confidence. The first heat of the weekend starts reasonably well and the WLM-clad lady starts in the top twenty. She then manages to work her way up to fifteenth place without doing anything crazy. For a moment, fourteenth place seems to be within reach, but a mistake prevents that. Fortunately, Eline can continue without losing a position and she crosses the finish line in fifteenth.
The start of the second heat is clearly better and Eline comes out of the first corner in fifteenth position. The R2R Store rider manages to hold this position for the first three laps. Then a very nice row line makes a place gain. The riding goes well and Eline dances around the tough circuit right behind the German Laier who has several titles to her name. Eline manages to keep Laier in her sights for about fifteen minutes, but when the pace increases, Eline has to let go. She continues to ride at her own pace and that earns her a spot in the final phase of the race! With a thirteenth place, she scores points again and can look back on a tough but successful weekend!
Next game:
The fifth race will have to wait a while, this championship will only continue at the TT Circuit of Assen on September 15-16.
