Full pot for Rick Wennekes in MON Overloon
SKS Racing Husqvarna rider Rick Wennekes (Haps) has won the ProX MX2 youth competition in Overloon. Wennekens won both heats at the Duivenbos circuit. He stayed ahead of Rowen Driessen (Helmond) and Twan de Weerd (Buurmalsen) in the daily rankings.
In the first heat the holeshot was ahead Britt Jans-Beken (Wanssum). Wennekes was right behind her and took the lead on the first lap. Wennekes quickly managed to take a small lead over De Weerd, who was second after a fall from Jans-Beken. Rowen Driessen came up quickly and took over second place on the third lap.
Wennekes managed to keep Driessen at a distance and crossed the finish line with a lead of more than four seconds. Behind this pair, Jelle Bankers (Bakel) passed Weerd in the final phase of the heat and came third. Jeremy Knuiman (Wijchen) returned from tenth place to fifth place in a moderately occupied starting field.
In the second heat Wennekes led the starting field from start to finish. It was Driessen who was immediately behind him, but when Driessen opened the attack on Wennekes, Driessen made a mistake and ended up off the track. Wennekes won the heat by a wide margin Twan de Weerd who had passed Bankers in the final phase. Driessen rode back from fourth to third place and took second place in the daily rankings. Jelle Bankers came fourth and Knuiman again took fifth place.
