VLM: Yentel Martens puts the crown on the work
Anyone who has ever seen the comedy film “Groundhog Day” will understand where this reference comes from. The Inters VLM races on Whit Monday were very similar to yesterday. Once again Yentel Martens (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) was the strongest. Now Cedric Grobben (SHR Motorsports / Bagger Paul) took second place, Jens van Meer (BeTeMo) came third.
The seventh championship match of the season saw a very meager turnout for the Inters. That did not stop Cedric Grobben from delivering an excellent first heat. Grobben, Smets and Van Meer made it a prestige battle for second place, but the three titans stayed in place for the entire heat. As usual, Yentel Martens was able to control calmly.
In the second moto Yentel Martens again created a large lead, even behind him the field was further separated. Van Meer consolidated his leading position in the championship, he is now 65(!) points ahead of champion Kenny Janssens, Kevin Van Geldrop is third.
In the MX2, sorry 250 still not used, Jonathan Banken underlined his ambition to extend his title. Former Juniors MX2 champion Thallon Caspermans won the second round nicely! A super regular Kristof Scheynen (2-3) came third.
