Falls keep Sam van de Ven from podium position
That the Oirschot student has been doing well in recent weeks was once again evident last weekend. However, the small mistakes meant that Sam was still unable to ride a podium this year in the MON ladies. These mistakes were also decisive in the match in Wanssum last weekend.
More generally, Sam takes the training as it should be used and absorbs the track well, but sets a nice third fastest time. The Honda rider, who was sprung by Promax, comes out of the starting line in fourth place and is looking forward to it. The match goes well, but then Sam makes a small mistake and loses a few spots. She fights her way back to position five in the remaining time. She ends the first series less than two seconds behind in fourth place.
It is clear that starting is now going smoothly on the Hastenberg Honda. Van de Ven reappears in the front ranks at the start of the decisive series. Things are moving very quickly and there are fierce duels for position two. But then Sam makes an error in judgment and takes a hard hit. She can't breathe for a moment and feels severe pain in her upper arm. But Sam refuses to let himself be known and resumes the race with a long gap. She manages to endure the pain and ends the series as the eleventh lady.
Sam is classified eighth in the daily total, but he is certainly not satisfied with this. But the realization that it could have been much worse still gives Sam a good feeling and she is already looking forward to the next race in Amersfoort. The driving and the lap times don't lie. Sam is really one of the best ladies at the moment, but those small mistakes still throw too much of a spanner in the works. Now that we take good care of that arm, take the necessary rest and then work hard for the race in Amersfoort, where we want to see a fit Van de Ven at the start.
